I was the only costume assistant on this show. This was a much bigger production than ‘Love Steals Us from Loneliness’, so I had to be very organised and communicative. I also had to make ten tunics for the opening of the show. This was a useful project because it required many long days to get everything ready on time. It was also a very useful experience, providing me with the opportunity to master both time management and sewing under pressure.
Sourcing online
Sourcing was a very important part of Mad Margot. Since we weren’t hiring anything and there wasn’t much in our university’s wardrobe, about 80% of the costume items were bought on ‘Vinted’. This meant we could save a lot of money for the 20 contemporary costumes
2 of the characters on Mad Margot, Dyer and Alfie, worked at Lidl and had to wear Lidl uniforms. Luckily, we found the uniforms on Vinted and it ended up adding a comic effect to the play and the scene where the actors wore this particular costumes,
An amazing find
Sourcing in town
After we found everything we could’ve on Vinted, just before tech week, I made one final town trip to find the rest of the costumes. I send photos to Llew and he approved what to buy.
